Hello Blue Moon, how are you? This week's music loops are all about international artists. I enjoy listening to music in many different languages, including the ones I don't know. Despite the multitude of languages, cultures and people in the world, music can transcend boundaries. Music is something that can bring people together and that is a wonderful thing.
Tout Est Gore by Lous & the Yakuza
I recently discovered Lous & The Yakuza and have been obsessed ever since. She's a Congolese-Belgian artist who sings in French, English & a dialect from the DR of the Congo. I believe this song is in French. I have enjoyed every song that I've listened to by her. I had to look up the lyrics to this song too and it's so good.
Specially for You by DahkaBrahka
DahkaBrahka is a world-music quartet based in Ukraine. This song is in English. I like this song because the lyrics read like a beautiful love poem but the singer sounds sad. As the song continues it becomes more intense and unhinged.
Koroba by Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage is a British Nigerian artist. Koroba is sung in a blend of Yoruba & English so I had to look up the lyrics after listening. The song is a blend of afrobeats & pop; it just makes you want to get up and dance. Afrobeats always make me want to move my body and dance.
River by Ibeyi
Ibeyi is an Afro-French Cuban duo. River is a sung is English & Yoruba. It's calm and has a certain fluidity reminiscent of its namesake.
Yuve Yuve Yu by The Hu
I'm a fan of metal but Mongolian Metal? Amazing. The Hu is a Mongolian folk rock & heavy metal band. I had to look up the lyrics to this one too because it's not in English, it's such a cool song.
